First things first - I absolutely love this fridge!! As someone who camps and takes long road trips, this fridge has been a game changer and dream come true for me. I've tried cheaper 12v fridge/coolers that barely cool compared to the ambient temp, and I've used others that work well but don't have any type of internal battery - they just don’t get the job done for me. This unit combines being a true fridge + freezer with the freedom of having an internal battery, making it the ultra portable device. Two of the best things about an electric fridge are (1) the money and time you save not needing ice, but more importantly (2) the space you save by not needing ice! This 40L version is more than enough space for a multi-day camping trip for multiple people, again since you have tons of extra space since there is no need for ice. The layout of the cooler is great, with only a small amount of internal space being taken up by the compressor. The drain plug is a godsend and seals well, and comes on and off easily. The collapsible handle and wheels are AMAZING, probably my second favorite feature to the battery. I have used Yeti coolers and while they are great and I love them, even medium sized ones are ridiculously heavy when fully loaded. I love that I can easily pick this cooler up by myself even when it’s loaded, and until I have to pick it up, I can roll it wherever needed.
Right out of the box I knew this unit was high quality. From the materials, to the awesome instructions, to the included accessories. Within 5 mins I had it up and running, and to be honest it cooled down incredibly quickly for me the first time I tested it. Inside my house (75F) it cooled down to 32F within 30 minutes, pretty impressive if you ask me. I’m sure it would take longer if the starting temp was higher, but I was impressed with this amount of time for cool down. I have done multiple indoor tests of the battery, using the fridge in ECO mode, and at a temp of 32F I can easily get 10 hours out of the unit. I think I will actually be able to get longer runtimes when the fridge is full, because the cold items will retain the cold, whereas while I’m testing it indoors it’s just cooling empty space inside the fridge - hopefully what I’m trying to say makes sense. Basically if there are cold items in the fridge, the fridge doesn’t have to work as hard. If the fridge is empty, the unit works harder to keep pumping cold air in there. When I was testing the unit it was empty. Overall I feel very good about these numbers, and if you had access to any sort of backup power (car/solar/etc) you could easily top this off, then let it run for 10-12 hours between charges. The supplied indoor charger works great and easily charges the unit in about 4 hours. The 12v car charger works very well in keeping the unit running, although I have not tested the full charge time using this charger.
At first I thought I would only use this fridge for camping, but I’ve actually found myself using it for all sorts of other random adventures. I’m going grocery shopping but I want to hit the gym after since I’ll already be downtown? No problem, throw cold/frozen stuff in the fridge and I’m good to go for the few hours I workout. Going home to see family for the weekend and I’m taking cold brew coffee and other cold items to share - toss them in the fridge and they’re fine for the drive home. To be honest I have even left this fridge running in the living room with coffee/water when I’m too lazy to walk all the way to the fridge!
Overall, if you are looking for a portable fridge for camping, road trips, or anything else you can think of, this cooler is for you.
